Sea highway

The Marina of Carrara port has commercial traffic with at least 85 ports and 48 nations all over the 5 continents.

It has connection lines with all the states of the mediterranean area, of Mar Nero, Nord America, Occidental Africa, Mar Rosso, Arabic Gulf, Sud Africa, India, Madagascar, Central America, Sud America, Canada, Uniited States of America, Far east, China, Japan, Indian subcontinent, so on.

Partcularly relative to lapidean products we specify that:
  • The granites which disembark in the port of marina di carrara comes principally from India and from Brazil and in lesser part from Sud Africa and Nord Europe
  • The marbles of carrara embarked in the port of Marina are destinated everywhere in the world but, with particular reference to the manufacts, the reference areas are United States of America, Far East (Japan and China) and the Persic Gulf and the Mar Rosso (Arabia Saudita, Emirati Arabi, Kuwait, etc etc), while, relatively to the not manufactured blocks or without shape, the principal destination are nord africa (tunisia, egitto and now, particularly algera and libia) and the sud-oriental mediterranen area (libano, siria, beirut, giordania, israele).
Besides, this authority port, wich has invested a lot on the development of the "sea highway", obtained that one of the four italian project financed by european community (with 4 milion of euro) is the port of Marina of Carrara; therefore, started a new traffic from our port and the one of Castellon De La Plana (in 2010 we'll be also the connection with the port of Tarragona), with the communiitary poject denominated "Marco Polo - Sea Highway - Pottery II" of the society Logitec s.r.l., by a new marble line from the province of Massa Carrara to the iberian region with the relative importation for the Italian society of spanish floors and coverings. Finally, during the 2009 continued a new important traffic of cruise type, with had seen more than 23.000 passenger pass in the port, in the week end from April to october, to visits the town of Carrara and the artistic beauty and cultural of Tuscany.
This cruise activity, although with the limits imposed by the port dimension, from the commercial vocation of the port and from the absence of infrastructure for the services of people, had however a perspective of growth and consolidation from 2010 by the stable acquisition of cruise traffics of primary navigation company.
This trend will be definitively confirmed only with the realization of the enlargement of the port and, then, with the realization of appropriate dock structure and the appropriate services.
